Has multiple drainage holes in the base (often 4–8 small holes); may come with a snap-on saucer/tray or optional plug. Weight ∼150–300 g empty. Common shapes: round, tapered “nursery” style, squat cylinder, square “Cubo”, or ribbed/fluted sides. Some have a rolled rim for strength; others are plain.

Pros: very light, inexpensive, durable, won’t chip, easy to move and clean, frost-proof, stackable. Retains moisture longer than unglazed terracotta (plastic isn’t porous). Cons: can heat up in direct sun (warms roots), less breathable, may fade or become brittle after years of UV, and top-heavy plants can tip.

Use: general-purpose for indoor/outdoor foliage, herbs, flowering annuals, young shrubs, nursery starts. Fits 7–8 in nursery pots. Good for balcony, terrace, windowsills, and as a liner inside decorative ceramic/cachepots. Water when top 3–4 cm of soil is dry; ensure holes aren’t blocked.
