Sowing & Care (Quick Guide)

Season: Warm-season annual (perennial in mild climates) — best sown Feb–Apr and Jun–Aug in North India; in mild climates almost year-round. Avoid frost.
Soil & Site: Loose, well-drained loamy or sandy-loam soil with good drainage; sunny, airy location.
Sowing Depth & Spacing: Sow 0.5–1 cm deep. Start in trays/pots and transplant at 3–4 true leaves, or direct sow. Space plants 20–30 cm apart; for containers, one plant per 6–8 in pot or 2–3 per 10–12 in pot for a fuller look.
Sunlight & Water: Full sun to light afternoon shade (6–8 hours of light for best flowering). Water moderately and allow the topsoil to dry slightly between waterings; avoid waterlogging. Tolerates heat and short dry spells once established.
Feeding & Maintenance: Light feeder—mix in compost at planting; feed lightly with a balanced fertilizer at bud stage if needed. Pinch tips once at 4–6 true leaves to encourage branching and more blooms.
Germination: 7–14 days (best at 24–30 °C); keep seed bed warm and evenly moist.
Bloom Time: 60–80 days from sowing (varies by climate). Flowers continuously in warm weather; remove spent blooms occasionally to keep plants tidy.
Packaging: Resealable pouch to keep seeds fresh; store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight.
