Kagda Jasmine in 6″Pot

An evergreen, spreading shrub to semi-scandent climber, 1–3 m (3–10 ft) tall, with soft, downy (pubescent) young stems and leaves. Leaves are opposite, simple, ovate to elliptic, 3–8 cm long, dark green and slightly hairy beneath, with entire margins and prominent veins. Flowers are produced almost year-round (peak winter–spring) in dense terminal clusters; buds are pinkish, opening to pure white, star-shaped corollas with 6–9 narrow lobes, 2–3 cm across. Unlike Arabian jasmine (J. sambac), the blooms are scentless or only very faintly fragrant, and often open in the daytime (some sources note a light sweet scent at night). Fruits are small black berries, rarely seen in cultivation.

Quick care: full sun to partial shade (best flowering with 4–6 hrs direct sun; tolerates light shade). Prefers rich, loose, well-drained loam with organic matter; pH neutral to slightly acidic. Water regularly—keep soil evenly moist but not waterlogged; allow top 2–3 cm to dry between waterings; established plants tolerate short dry spells. Warm, humid climate ideal (USDA 9–11); protect from frost; can be grown in containers and moved indoors in cold zones. Feed monthly during growing season with balanced fertilizer or compost; prune after flowering to shape, remove dead wood, and encourage bushiness (responds well to hard pruning). Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings or layering. Generally pest-free; occasional aphids/whiteflies and powdery mildew in humid shade. Excellent for hedges, borders, trellises, and as a loose screen; popular for garlands (kagada strings) in South India despite the mild scent.
