Dwarf Kamini Murraya Paniculata in 8″ Pot

A small evergreen shrub that stays 30–60 cm (12–24 in) tall in pots (up to ∼1 m / 3 ft in ground with time). Naturally dense, rounded, bonsai-like habit with very fine branching (“ramification”) that’s ideal for tabletop display. Leaves are pinnate with 3–9 tiny leaflets; each leaflet is glossy, dark green, ovate-elliptic, only ∼1–2 cm long (much smaller than the standard form), giving a delicate texture. Flowers are produced in small terminal clusters several times a year: pure white, star-shaped, 5-petalled, ∼1–1.5 cm across, intensely citrus-jasmine scented, strongest in evening. Often blooms year-round in warm conditions. Fruit are small ovoid berries 0.8–1.2 cm, ripening orange-red with 1–2 hairy seeds.

Quick care: bright indirect light to partial sun (≥4–6 hrs; morning sun is best; avoid harsh midday sun that can scorch tiny leaves). Warmth 18–29 °C (65–85 °F); USDA 10–11 outdoors; treat as indoor/patio plant elsewhere (protect below ∼10 °C/50 °F). Soil: loose, fertile, well-drained loam with compost + sand/perlite; pH 6–7. Water moderately—keep evenly moist during active growth, allow top 2–3 cm to dry between waterings; reduce in cool months (let soil dry partially). Do not waterlog (root rot). High humidity appreciated; mist occasionally but avoid constantly wetting bark. Feed every 4–6 weeks in spring–summer with balanced fertilizer or slow-release; add a little extra phosphorus to boost flowering. Prune lightly after each flush to shape (great for bonsai styling); avoid hard cuts. Repot every 2–3 years in spring into a slightly larger pot. Propagate by semi-ripe cuttings in summer or fresh seed. Generally pest-free; watch for scale, mealybugs, spider mites indoors. Excellent desk/office plant, small hedge, or beginner bonsai.
