Snake Plant Tall in 6″Pot

A tough evergreen succulent perennial in the Asparagaceae family, native to tropical West Africa (Nigeria to Congo). It forms dense clumps from creeping rhizomes, with stiff, sword-shaped leaves that grow vertically from a basal rosette. The “tall” forms (e.g. species type or cv. ‘Laurentii’) have dark green leaves with light gray-green cross-banding; ‘Laurentii’ adds broad golden-yellow margins. Leaves are thick, leathery, 5–6 cm wide and typically 70–90 cm (2–3 ft) tall indoors, reaching 1–2 m (3–6 ft) in ideal conditions. Growth is slow; plants spread by underground rhizomes and can eventually split pots. Flowers are small, greenish-white, fragrant at night, but rare indoors; orange berries follow.

Quick care: extremely adaptable—tolerates low light to bright indirect (best color in bright filtered light; avoid harsh midday sun that can scorch). Water sparingly: let the top 5–7 cm (2–3 in) of soil dry out completely, then water thoroughly; in winter water once every 4–6 weeks. Must have excellent drainage—use cactus/succulent mix and a pot with holes; overwatering causes rot. Thrives in 18–30 °C (65–85 °F), tolerates dry air, and needs no misting. Feed lightly 1–2 times in spring–summer with diluted balanced fertilizer (optional). Repot only when root-bound (every 2–3 years). Great air-purifier and low-maintenance, but toxic if ingested (keep away from pets/kids).
