Weeping Fig (Ficus Benjamina) in 8″ Pot

A graceful evergreen tree in the fig family (Moraceae), native to Southeast Asia and northern Australia. The small, glossy, oval leaves have slender acuminate tips and are borne on arching, pendulous branches, giving the whole plant a soft, weeping silhouette. In the wild it can become a large tree (10–15 m+), but as a houseplant it’s slow-growing and easily kept at 0.6–2 m; stems are sometimes braided or trained into a miniature “standard” tree form like the one in your photo.

Quick care: bright, indirect light (tolerates some gentle sun; avoid sudden changes in position or low light, which cause leaf drop). Water when the top 2–3 cm of soil feels dry—keep evenly moist but not soggy; let excess drain. Prefers warm temps (16–26 °C), stable conditions, and moderate humidity (mist if air is very dry). Feed lightly monthly in spring–summer. Sap can irritate skin and is mildly toxic if ingested, so keep away from pets/kids. Good for bright rooms and helps filter indoor air.
