Parlor Palm (Chamaedorea elegans) in 4″ Pot

A small, clump-forming palm native to the rainforest understory of southern Mexico and Guatemala. It grows as a tidy cluster of slender, cane-like green stems with soft, pinnate (feathery) fronds made up of narrow, lance-shaped leaflets—giving an airy, elegant canopy. Indoors it’s slow-growing and usually kept at 0.6–1.2 m (2–4 ft) tall, making it perfect for tabletops and low-light corners.

Quick care: bright indirect light (tolerates medium to low light; avoid hot direct sun), keep soil evenly moist but not soggy (let the top 2–3 cm dry between waterings), average room temps 18–24 °C, and moderate humidity (mist if air is very dry). Feed lightly in spring–summer. Non-toxic to pets and people, and known as a good air-purifying, low-maintenance palm.
