Araucaria heterophylla in 8″ Pot

A symmetrical, soft-needled evergreen that’s native to Norfolk Island (South Pacific) and widely grown as an elegant indoor “mini Christmas tree.” Juvenile plants have tiered, horizontal branches covered in fine, bright-green needles that darken with age, forming a classic conical silhouette. Indoors it grows slowly, typically reaching 1–2 m over many years (outdoors in the tropics it can become a huge tree).

Care in one line: bright indirect light (a few hours of gentle sun is great; rotate weekly), keep soil evenly moist but never soggy, give it cool-ish temps (15–22 °C), boost humidity in dry rooms, and feed lightly in spring–summer. Avoid cold drafts, harsh afternoon sun, and letting the soil dry out completely—dry air or drought causes lower branch drop that won’t regrow.
